Hi! Welcome to the photography site of Joel Koskelainen!
In the beginning of August I’ve been thinking a lot on what I find important in photography. Photography is a means to document precious moments in life but it should also be to find out what is beautiful in the everyday things, the more mundane. The latter is something I want to become better at documenting. Many photographers, myself included, struggle with these thoughts that if an environment seems mundane, too still, too familiar, it’s tempting to wait for another setting. I do still consider it valuable to aim for your best in photography but it shouldn’t cause hindrance in trying things out, experimenting, having strolls in nature and city without necessarily having deeply set plans. Take a slow breath in and out cause photography can work as a form of therapy when you let your mind be free.
This photo from last month reminds me of those. On this page I will journal rather freely my thoughts of this process of becoming better at exploration in photography, how I think and feel about it. I will also share tips about photography on the way. Thanks for tuning in!
